Airline-Approved Pet Crates
Pet Crate Hire for Safe & Secure Travel
When travelling with pets, choosing the right travel crate is one of the most important factors in ensuring their safety, comfort, and compliance with airline regulations. A crate that is too small can cause distress, while a crate that is too large can lead to discomfort during turbulence. Our pet crate hire service ensures you get the perfect fit for your pet, meeting DEFRA, IATA, and airline requirements for international pet transport.
Why Hire a Pet Travel Crate Instead of Buying One?
1. Convenience
Many pet owners only need a travel crate for a single trip. Hiring a secure, airline-compliant pet crate means you don’t have to worry about storage or maintenance after your journey.
2. Cost Effective
High-quality pet crates can be expensive, especially for large breed dogs or oversized travel crates. Renting a DEFRA and IATA-approved pet crate provides a budget-friendly option while ensuring your pet has a comfortable and safe journey.
3. Meets Airline & Pet Transport Regulations
Our rental pet crates comply with IATA and airline-specific requirements, so you can avoid unexpected issues at check-in.
4. Sized For Your Pets Comfort
We offer a variety of crate sizes for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and exotic pets, ensuring they travel safely and comfortably. Our team will help you select the right size, following IATA’s travel crate measurement guidelines.
What to Consider When Choosing a Pet Travel Crate?
1. Correct Crate Size
Your pet’s crate should allow them to:
- Stand without touching the top
- Turn around comfortably
- Lie down in a natural position
2. Ventilation & Safety Features
✔ Secure door locks to prevent escape
✔ Airflow panels for proper ventilation
✔ Spill-proof water bowls included
3. Airline Approval
Our crates meet IATA Live Animal Regulations, ensuring they are suitable for international flights, Eurotunnel travel, and UK domestic transport.

How to Measure Your Pet for a Travel Crate
To ensure your pet has a safe and comfortable journey, follow these IATA sizing guidelines:
Step 1: Take the Following Measurements
A: Nose to base of tail (excluding tail length)
B: Floor to elbow joint
C: Width at the widest point
D: Floor to top of head or ears (whichever is taller)
Step 2: Calculate the Minimum Crate Size
Crate Length = A + ½ B
Crate Width = C x 2
Crate Height = D + bedding

Travelling with Multiple Pets in One Crate?
If your airline allows multiple pets to share a crate, follow these width calculations:
2 pets: C x 3
3 pets: C x 4
We can advise on the best crate size and airline regulations for multi-pet transport.
